city is possible only through a clear vision. Participation
of different political parties active in the city, industrialists,
businessmen, intellectuals, representatives of the government
and non-government organizations, representatives of the local
people, many different donor organizations were invited to take
active part in the interaction and identification of the specific
possibilities of the city, with the technical assistance of
udle/GTZ. Dharan, a beautiful city with education, health and
tourism infrastructure was declared as the long-term vision
of the city on the occasion of Visit Nepal 1998.
And in 2003, as Dharan is not only the gateway to the Eastern
Region but also the trade center, the Municipality has added
the vision that Dharan should be a trade center, too.
