Objective of the Program/ Target Group

  • Children of age group 10 to 14 who are in hazardous conditions.

  • Household workers and street children who cannot go to school.

  • The objective of this program is to literate and educate these children through sahayogi (helping) activists.

Proceeding/ Strategy
The children in hazardous conditions: e.g. household workers and street children are identified. Groups of 20 (at the maximum) are collected and provided a three-hour lesson daily for ten months through child-centered learning methods by trained activists.

 

 

Achievements:

  • All illiterate children will be fully literate

  • They will know health, hygiene and environment.

  • They will understand the child-right and aspects of society.

 
     
  Community-Based Children Development Centers (CBCDC)

Objectives + Target Group:

  • Children of age group 3-5 years from underprivileged families/communities.

  • Overall development (physical, mental, intellectual and emotional) of the children from the target group.

  • The children will go to school more easily when they reach the age, as they will be used to go to attend the Community-Based Children Development Centers.

Procedure
CBCDC will be established as per the demand of the parents/guardians who will attend the Parent/Guardian Education Program. A managing committee formed from among the parents/guardians will operate the Centers. The local community bears some percentage of the expenses to run the centers. There are fifteen such centers functioning in Dharan.

Achievement
The children take part in activities such as making their groups and working in groups. They love their peers, sing songs about their work/play, dance and play simple games etc. Similarly, they speak without hesitation and they can answer simple questions. They are smarter when they attend the school later.
