Introduction

 

 


Decentralized Action for Child And Woman (DACAW) is a child-and-woman oriented decentralized program working in 15 districts of Nepal with assistance of UNICEF. This is a 5 year project (2002-2006 Dec.)

This project has an objective of uplifting the sector of backward women and children. The head office of this project is in Kathmandu, the regional field office for the eastern region is in Biratnagar and district field office is in Inaruwa. This project is in 13 VDCs of Sunsari district. Sunsari has been recognized as a model district, too.

 
     
 

Objective

 
 

  • To increase the accessibility of standard fundamental education to children and female youths from the backward community.
  • Protecting all children and women from violence, exploitation and ill treatment.
  • To identify the reasons behind higher rates of disease and death among children and women, and to lower the female and infant mortality rate.
  • To improve the nutritional conditions of children and women.
  • Development of youth groups, bring awareness of HIV and AIDS among youth, and
  • To improve the condition of women.
 
     
 

Goals

 
 

  • All children will have a quality primary education.
  • All the children will be well nourished.
  • All mothers will have a quality mother child health facilities and good care.
  • All citizens will have health facilities.
  • All families will make a habit of going to toilet.
  • All families will have access to personal development, particularly girls of teenage. They will be provided necessary information, skill and knowledge.
